Professor Zhang Xuegong was recently elected vice-president of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB).

The ISCB, founded in 1997, is the leading international body in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics.

Professor Zhang is a fellow of the ISCB and the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. He obtained his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from Tsinghua University in 1989 and 1994, respectively, and was a visiting scholar at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health from 2001 to 2002.

Zhang currently serves as a professor in the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, and is a member of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University and Chair of the Academic Committee of the Department of Automation. He has received numerousawards, including the National Teaching Achievement Award (second prize), the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (second prize), and the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award (first prize).
